OVERVIEW - CAMPAIGN FOR CONSUMER
FRAUD AWARENESS
The Consumer Fraud Awareness Campaign launches Oct. 3, 2007, with national press events in Washington, D.C., and New York City. Events promoting the Alliance, the Campaign and the FakeChecks.org website are being held across the country, starting Oct. 3, 2007 at 11:00am EDT and for several days afterward. See the full schedule below.
Campaign goals:
- increase Americans’ awareness about fraudulent financial schemes;
- give consumers valuable information about protecting their assets from the schemes;
- provide a place where they can report suspected financial fraud.
The Campaign was created by the Alliance for Consumer Fraud Awareness, which is spearheaded by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service together with 20 financial institutions, associations, consumer advocacy groups and businesses.
